Green Cleaning

There are lots of ways to change how you clean to being greener. So many cleaning products are chemical based and we have been told by the companies that make the chemicals that this is your best option.
In reality there are many natural products that can clean just as well as chemicals without the harsh side effects.
I'm not saying chemicals won't do the job but the impact that those chemicals have on us as humans and on the environment around us is not good.
While the impact of natural cleaning products giving us the same amount of cleanliness is minimal.
Simple things like lemon juice, tea tree, vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and many more can make your cleaning effective but gentler and your house will smell fresh. There are many online sites with hints and tips for greener cleaning but here are a few of my favourites.

Window cleaner
Cleaning my windows with hot water and vinegar using crumpled newspapers to wipe. Changing the newspaper to dry the windows. Always give me sparkly clean windows.
Tip- Don't clean your windows on a sunny day!

Bath & Sink Cleaner
My least favourite thing to do! But for a good clean dampen the bath with vinegar and sprinkle on some baking soda leave this to sit a fizz for a bit. Then using a cloth (reused old cotton tshirts are great just cut them into a good size) wipe and mix the two together into a paste all over bath, taps etc and then leave for a further 15mins. Wash and wipe off with warm water.
Floor Wash

All purpose antibacterial spray
fill a spray bottle
- half with water
- quarter with white vinegar
- 10 drops of tea-tree oil
- 10 drops of lemon oil
- 10 drops of eucalyptus oil
shake well and Voila!
You don't have to use all three oils but this is my preference for odour.

Fabric conditioner
Believe it or not white vinegar or cider vinegar will work well as a fabric softener.
Just add 60ml (quarter cup) when you would normally add your softener!
